Watering flowers with yeast - top dressing, fertilizing and natural fertilizer

yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is an organism whose biomass is known as germ , yeast cube , yeast for dough and more. It contains many nutrients such as B vitamins , beta glucans , plant hormones and the minerals potassium and magnesium .

Plants in the period of flowering and vegetation can be effectively fed :

  • yeast in active form,
  • a solution of yeast and sugar in water,
  • a solution of yeast in milk.

In the following article, learn how to prepare a recipe for fertilizing flowers with yeast.

Feeding flowers with yeast

  • In 100 grams of yeast biomass there are:

  • 955 mg potassium,

  • 51 mg sodium,

  • 40 grams of protein,

  • 30 mg calcium ,

  • 54 mg magnesium ,

  • 1.5 mg vitamin B6,

  • 2.2 mg iron,

  • 0.3 mg vitamin C ,

  • 0.1 microgram of vitamin B12,

  • plant hormones like auxin.

Plant hormones

Plant or phytohormones are chemical substances that cause in plants :

  • cell division,

  • increase in cell mass,

  • cell differentiation,

  • morphogenesis.

These are natural substances typically found in various plants and various microorganisms as well as yeasts .

They are divided according to how they work in plants, so there are:

  • auxins - stimulate growth and morphogenesis, especially of roots and lateral roots,

  • cytokinins - stimulate stem growth,

  • abscisic acid - inhibits plant growth,

  • gibberellins - for longitudinal growth and division and for induction of flowering.

The plant hormones auxins are found in yeasts . Auxins are used for:

  • propagation of fruit trees, ornamental plants, trees, flowers and cuttings,

  • stimulating fruit growth in tomatoes, cucumbers and apples ,

  • for weed control,

  • to prevent premature fruit ripening.
Yeast feeding

Yeast or germ can be found in various forms :

  • yeast cake,

  • dry instant active yeast,

  • granulated and liquid yeast - for bakery purposes.
Yeast in the plant causes :

  • releasing heat and heating the plant medium,

  • activity of microorganisms present in the country,

  • increased content of micro and macro elements.

Yeast and sugar for flowers

The sugar in question is table sugar or sucrose .

One molecule of sucrose is made up of one subunit of fructose and one glucose.

Both of these types of sugar can be used by yeast, as well as the plant, for natural supplementation.

The addition of sucrose to the water and yeast solution stimulates the activation and reproduction of yeast biomass.

Nutrients not used by the yeast will be used later by the plant.

To prepare a nutrient solution with germ, you need:

  • 10 grams of fresh yeast,

  • 1 teaspoon sugar,

  • 1 liter of warm water.

The manufacturing process is as follows:

  • dissolve the yeast in water and stir,

  • add sugar and let stand for 2 hours,
  • water the flowers twice a month in winter and three times a month in summer.

The solution prepared in this way will serve as an excellent natural fertilizer for balcony flowers , as well as for  indoor flowers .

Watering flowers with milk

Milk is a good nutrient medium that contains many minerals such as:

  • calcium,

  • magnesium,

  • phosphorus,

  • potassium.

It also contains proteins , vitamins and milk sugars that are good nutrition for the plant.

Milk is used in the plant for:

  • nutrient supplementation,

  • protection against pests and pests,

  • better absorption of nutrients.

You can stir the yeast in the milk and prepare the solution in the way already described.

You can apply this solution in the following ways:

  • spraying plants through a syringe bottle,

  • watering the plants once a week.

When using milk should be careful to not overdo it .

Milk is not only an ideal growth medium for plants, but also for bacteria and mold.

Therefore, after spraying the plant should be wiped off the excess that is not absorbed with the leaves and stems.

Germa for watering vegetables

In yeast, in addition to a lot of nutrients, there are also plant hormones auxins.

They stimulate the growth of fruits, vegetables and fruits, as well as the division of plant cells.

A natural fertilizer for vegetables can also be a yeast solution.

All plants, especially in times of rapid development of leaves and flowers, need supplementation.

Vegetables that require more nutrition are:

  • cabbage,

  • pumpkins,

  • tomato ,

  • pepper,

  • eggplant.

Vegetables that require less supplementation are:

  • beans ,

  • leek ,

  • Mangel,

  • matovilac,

  • spinach ,

  • generally green root and tuberous vegetables.

Germa for watering vegetables is a good source of natural plant hormones

that will stimulate the growth of even the most demanding plants and their fruits.

Yeast can also be effective against snails in the vegetable garden.

Snails are attracted to the sugar in beer and often drown in it.

An interesting way to apply germ when watering vegetables is to apply beer.

Beer is nutritious because it contains carbohydrates and yeast.

However, the use of beer is an expensive option ,

and the development of an unpleasant odor in the vegetable garden is possible.

To apply germ in watering vegetables, use the above guidelines for dissolving yeast in water .
