5 hanging plants to hang in your living room
Contents
More trendy than ever, drooping plants give a room a lot of style. With their poetic allure, they perfectly match the plant trend and will remain your favourite plants for a long time.
Zoom on 5 of these amazing beauties.
1. The Aeschynanthus
Native to Malaysia, Aeschynanthus stands out with its generous foliage and original dark red flowers hidden in purple tubes - which have earned it the nickname "lipstick plant".
Maintenance : guiv
Bright rooms will be favoured by the Aeschynanthus but without direct sun exposure.
Watering:
A weekly watering will suffice in winter, but you can go up to two waterings per week in summer, always in small quantities.
2. Ceropegia woodii
Ceropegia woodii comes from Southern Africa, particularly Zimbabwe, Swaziland and South Africa. Named by the Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus, its name comes from the Greek word "kêros" meaning "wax" and "pêgê" meaning "fountain".
The heart-shaped, grey-green leaves of Ceropegia woodii reminded the scientist of a wax fountain.
Maintenance :
The Ceropegia woodii is not very complicated and will be appreciated in bright as well as slightly darker places.
Watering :
Keep a light hand on watering and always wait for the soil to dry before watering it again.
3. The Tradescantia
Present on the American continent from Canada to Argentina, the Tradescantia can be adorned in pink or red, or even gold and silver, and will immediately bring a dose of refinement to your home.
Even its name is chic as it is named after John Tradescant, the famous gardener of the English king Charles I.
Interview:
If you own a colourful variety of Tradescantia, place it in a bright spot so that its leaves don't turn completely green again.
Watering :
Tradescantia hates stagnant water, so water it sparingly and wait for the soil to dry between waterings. But if the tips of its leaves darken, be alert! It will then need a little more water.
4. Rhipsalis
Native to the rainforests of Central and South America and Africa, Rhipsalis will bring a breath of fresh air to your home with its fast growing, bushy leaves.
But that's not all, it will also be very effective in cleaning your home - a real advantage for the more urban among you!
Maintenance :
A slightly sunny room will be perfect for the Rhipsalis but make sure it does not receive too much direct sunlight. And if its long tendrils start to take up a little too much space in your living room, you can of course trim them without any problem.
Watering:
Only one golden rule: let the soil dry out between waterings!
5. Tillandsia usneoides
This beautiful American has many assets to make you succumb: her crazy look of course, but also her delicious fragrance that will subtly embalm your home.
In the United States, especially in the south, she often clings to tree trunks and electrical wires, and fills us with wonder on every street corner.
Maintenance :
A bright spot but no direct sunlight is what Tillandsia usneoides needs.
Watering :
Original, Tillandsia usneoides has no roots and absorbs water and nutrients through the scales of its curly flowers.
You will therefore only need to spray it twice a week with fresh water, if possible rainwater.
If it is still not dry after a few hours, you will have to be careful to use less water the next time you water it.
