Raised flower beds in the garden are easy to make and maintain, and canhelp you grow fruits and vegetables.
It is a fenced ground located just above the ground.
Almost everything can be planted in tall flower beds - medicinal herbs, fruits and vegetables or just flowers.
Plants grow better in tall flower beds due to better drainage and less weeds.
They are also kept away from pets or children who would like to play with plants.
Raised flower beds make it easier to plan the planting of good neighbors in the garden and are suitable for small gardens.
If you have soil in the garden that is not suitable for planting plants - raised beds can help because they allow you to control the soil in them.
High flower beds are placed in a place where plants can get at least 5-6 hours of sun.
It is best to turn them horizontally to the south so that all the plants get the same amount of sun.
Leave at least 45 cm of space between the billets to have enough space to walk between them.
They are usually filled with black and rich soil , and it is recommended to mix the soil with compost.
Keep in mind that high beams have excellent drainage, but they dry very quickly (and faster at the edges).
Find out below what material and how you can make raised flower beds in your garden.
Material for raised billets
High beams are usually made of ordinary wood , and stone, concrete or brick can also be used .
With raised wooden beams, attention should be paid to the quality of the wood .
Old and rotten wood increases the risk of ants, so prefer to invest in new boards.
The best wood for raised beds is cedar or mahogany because they do not rot.
If you are making high concrete beams keep in mind that it will increase the pH level of the soil over time.
Raised billets - construction
Preparing a high billet is very simple if you do not want to buy it.
First choose the material with which you will make it and determine the place in the garden for it.
High beams must be open at the top and bottom so you only make the frame that needs to be fastened.
They are usually 15 to 20 cm deep.
The dimensions of the raised beam depend on you, so you can make beams that are 1 m wide and 3 m long.
If you are making raised wooden beams, first cut the planks to get an oblong frame.
All sides of the frame must be the same height.
You can fasten the boards in different ways , and one of the ways is by driving wooden stakes into the ground.

Layers of a raised beam
Before you start, dig a small area where you intend to place a high bed (about 20 cm) and remove the soil from that space.
To make a layer between the soil and the soil, place dry twigs, leaves, straw and other organic materials on the soil inside the bed.
Cover the organic materials with cardboard and pour everything well.
The mixture will disintegrate over time and turn to earth.
Pour the soil (about 30 cm thick) over the cardboard and start planting.
